Summer Intern - Engineering

As a GXO Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals in an exciting, fast-paced environment, learning the skills that will help you build a meaningful career.

During the 10-week program, the engineering intern will work with our team in warehouse automation and efficiency improvements.

The intern will also learn day-to-day operations, industry skills and overall comprehension of the business to ultimately enhance our value to customers.

What you'll do on a typical day:



* Develop and conduct production time studies, head count analyses, downtime analyses, efficiency improvement plans, warehouse slotting and SKU velocity analyses, etc.


* Perform value stream mapping, process improvements and standardization



* Optimize layouts of workcells and storage bin locations


* Develop and manage 5S and CI projects


* Participate and/or lead projects with key partners and peer interns by creating and developing project plans, determine requirements, deliverables, resources, timing/milestones, and risks.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:


* Current collegiate Junior or Senior in pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Manufacturing, Logistics or related field with anticipated graduation by June 2026.


* In academic good standing with a grade point average of at least 3.0.


* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


* Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.


* Strong verbal and written communication skills to present information and data in an organized, concise, and audience appropriate manner.


* Detail-oriented and organized.


* High degree of integrity to maintain confidentiality.

It'd be great if you also have:


* Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma Principles


* Leadership and/or people management experience in collegiate programs and activities, or in previous/current employment.


* Ability to use data to understand problems, identify potential solutions, and suggest the solution that's most likely to have the desired impact.


* Communicate and build relationships with others that contribute to the efficiency of the team.

This job requires the ability to:


* Lift objects up to 10lbs.


* Stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time.
