Maintenance Planner

Primary Purpose of the Role

The Maintenance Planner (board/tissue) is responsible for coordinating the maintenance work force effectiveness by eliminating potential for delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, equipment, personnel and contractors.

This position needs to be able to keep equipment maintained while slowing down production minimally.

The Maintenance Planner must assist in solving maintenance problems while taking the budget and safety into consideration.

Essential Job Duties


* Maintain standardized work and perform to current standards within the department


* Continuously look for Kaizen opportunities in their processes


* Understand Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) key performance indicators such as MTBF, OEE, and maintenance labor standards.


* Ensure maintenance technicians are working safely and using the proper permits.

List the safety tasks on work order if needed


* Handle all non-emergency work requests from departments supported by maintenance


* Clarify the scope of the requested work orders to ensure the appropriate work is being performed


* Ensure the work orders are assigned properly


* Plan work required including any additional sketches, diagrams, manuals, etc


* Provide realistic estimates for labor, parts, and contractors required on work orders


* Requisition parts, tools, and other material or services as required on each non-emergency work order.


* Determine skill set need to complete work, determine crew size and estimate labor hours needed.


* Coordinated plans, contractors, construction crews, engineering and outside services as required.


* Input daily logs and ensure logs are filled out properly.


* Review work order back log schedule with maintenance manager.


* Keep a running total of maintenance back-log hours to plan overtime and contractor help.


* Must follow GMP guidelines and report any food safety issues to your supervisor


* Maintain the maintenance library by ensuring all prints are up to date.


* Keeping track of an equipment log description, type, age, and valued condition grading.

Required Skills/Abilities


* Understand Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)(RCM) Reliable Centered Maintenance


* Experience working in a paper or film converting and/or printing is a plus.


* Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.


* Clear, concise communication, both written and verbal.


* Leadership and organizational skills are a must.


* Must be proficient on locating and requesting parts as need for this job role.


* May be asked to lead PM's, rebuilds, and projects as directed.


* Assist in determining root cause of failures on equipment.


* Must have full understanding of the CMMS work order system.


* Minimum 5 years of experience in a maintenance role


* Preferred Vocational / Technical degree
