General Definition of Work

Responsible for performing a wide variety of management, administrative, and supervisory duties associated with the day-to-day operations of the Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport.

Duties may include: supervising staff; participating in the development and monitoring of the division budget; coordinating department activities with other City departments to ensure effective working relationships.

Work is performed under the general direction of the Airport Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and considerable experience in airport operations, including moderate supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Special Qualifications

Possession of valid Commercial Driver License Class A with a Tanker Endorsement at hire.

National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training based on assignment.

Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for the position.

Communication over the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) radio.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Thorough knowledge of airport traffic patterns; airfield lighting, markings, and signs, different types of aircraft; military aircraft/operations, aviation fuel safety, systems, and operation; proper procedures and reports for spills/storm water pollution prevention (SWPP); Federal, State, and local rules and regulations pertaining to airport operations; Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and guidelines; research methodology; theories and principals related to operations of a municipal airport, supervisory theories and principles, record keeping practices, aircraft recovery; proper procedures and language for issuing NOTAMs.

Skill in monitoring workflow and assigning work to staff; reviewing and evaluating staff; gathering, organizing and analyzing data, preparing budgets and tracking expenditures, developing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines; interpreting policies and procedures; resolving problems and handling sensitive matters, procuring materials, supplies and services; using computers and related software applications; com...
