AVP, Strategic Research Partnerships and Innovation-EVP, PIC and CSO

Nemours is seeking an AVP, Strategic Research Partnerships and Innovation-EVP, PIC and CSO to join our team in Wilmington, DE.

Primary Functions:

The Strategic Research Partnerships and Innovation Associate Vice President is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and supporting the development and prioritization of research-focused partnerships and/or adjacent opportunities aligned with Nemours Children's long-term scientific growth strategy.

This AVP will manage and execute assigned projects as directed by the Enterprise Physician-in-Chief and Chief Scientific Officer (PIC/CSO) and will develop and execute plans consistent with the PIC/CSO's priorities, working closely with the leadership team to support the overall strategy for Nemours Children's Health in the institution's existing service areas and consider new partnership growth as well.

Reports to the EVP, Enterprise Physician-in-Chief & Chief Scientific Officer.

Collaborates and partners with the Department of Research to smoothly and effectively plan, program and oversee initiatives.

Supervises research partnership specialists.

Models the standards of behavior in all interactions.

Essential Functions:

Support development and implementation of Nemours Children's Health research strategy and strategic priorities by identifying, analyzing and addressing complex business issues and developing actionable strategies related to research-based partnerships (eg, university affiliates)

Manage strategic initiatives, partnering with other departments and/or functional heads as appropriate, helping identify and address obstacles to progress and ensure process discipline

Assess likely revenue potential of partnership and project ideas and evaluate against the expected investment and operating costs; make recommendations and build business cases, and help monitor trajectory towards value realization

Develop and maintain internal and external network of contacts to advance research development concepts, support information gathering, and facilitate socialization of ideas, while establishing a strong understanding of research-focused business operations and priorities for the organization

Build, maintain, and evolve external relationships with partners and across the Nemours Children's partnership ecosystem in research, and manage strategic partnerships with research-focused entities of all sizes

Develop cross-region strategic partnership opportunities and initiatives and build go-to-market strategies to meet broader enterprise goals across rapidly changing research-focused opportunities

Ideate and drive complex agreements with research-focused partners and renewals/expansions for existing partners, and build consensus among internal and external leaders regarding strategic opportunities
