Leaders in Training, Associate Underwriter - D&O

The Associate Underwriter will work within a dynamic underwriting unit focused on producing profitable Directors & Officers (D&O) underwriting results to assist with growing our book of business.
To develop of network or following of producer relationships within assigned brokerages through dynamic marketing efforts via travel and technology resources.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
* Marketing, producing accounts, understanding D&O exposures, knowing how to price accounts and the policy forms to use.
The underwriter must make sure to write business within the reinsurance guidelines.
The goal is to write a growing profitable book of business
* Expected to travel
* Will have developed key relationships with assigned producers
* Must understand the Lines of business, forms and pricing the exposures written
* Demonstrate professional conduct, a strong work ethic and strong relationships internally
* Must be disciplined and conservative to maintain an underwriting standard of writing quality business at a profitable level
* Understand key risk exposures and claims examples
* Must act with integrity and be trustworthy
* Work towards and complete the RPLU (Registered Professional Liability Underwriter) designation by end of year 2
* Ability to analyze risks
* Set proper terms and conditions including pricing towards our stated loss ratio goals
* Work within established letter of authority and parameters of our reinsurance treaty
* Understand key components of our coverage lines and product offering
* Demonstrated knowledge of the D&O market and key stake holders and competitors
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
* Must be proficient in Microsoft office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint as well as be familiar with Adobe Acrobat
* Ability and desire to build customer relationships with our brokers across the country, and internally with team members
* Excellent communication skills
Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Insurance Risk Management, Finance, Business or a related degree
* Must be able to work in the U.S.
without current or future sponsorship.
