Elections Coordinator's Assistant

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Registrar of Voters is recruiting for an Elections Coordinator's Assistant to support the Elections Officers and Polls in Riverside.

At this time, the position has the opportunity for a hybrid telework schedule based on business need, however job expectations, at times may require in person interaction.

Telework may change at any time and you will be expected to report to the office.

The incumbent will be required to work in the office full time during elections due to the volume of work.

PLEASE NOTE: Incumbents must be available to work weekends and holidays, including mandatory overtime.

This position may require travel throughout the county as needed by the department.

This position may required to work a night shit during elections season 6:30pm - 2:00am.

The Elections Coordinator's Assistant will work closely with the Elections Coordinator to assist with Temporary Assignment (TAP) employees which may include assisting in training with voter role maintenance, phone bank, data entry and timesheets.

They will also assist with answering general questions from both employees and voters.

Additional the incumbent will be responsible for the creation and review of notices and calendars for upcoming elections, review candidate statements, assist with candidate files and reviews, voter outreach, reviewing voting drafts, preparing candidate handbooks and training additional staff at the voter center.

The most competitive incumbent will have experience with excel, reviewing time sensitive documents, training staff and assisting with presentations.

Additionally, they will have knowledge of elections codes including jurisdiction code.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Researches, prepares, and recommends written procedures, proposals, and/or justifications for implementation and integration into current County and/or office policies and procedures.

• Refers to Elections, Public Resources, Education, Health and Safety, Water, Government Codes, and the California Constitution to research legislative changes which affect elections, calendars, and procedures.

• Communicates with County Counsel on analysis for any election and supports with written memoranda.

• Documents records and research; maintains confidentiality of records maintenance.

• Prepares and maintains Annual Election Calendar; disseminates to news media and others.

• Develops, coordinates, and supervises the calendars for specific elections, such as Primary, General, and regularly scheduled and special elections in the County of Riverside; updates calendars to reflect changes.
