Supervising Respiratory Care Practitioner - Respiratory Therapy

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Respiratory Therapy Department at Riverside University Health System's Medical Center seeks a Supervising Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team in Moreno Valley.

This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the education and training of the respiratory care team and students, ensuring high-quality patient care across all shifts.

Duties include providing direct support to staff and physicians, conducting training sessions, developing patient education initiatives, and updating respiratory care policies and procedures.

The role involves monitoring clinical compliance, collaborating with other departments, documenting patient progress in EHR, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications:


* Education: Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited college or university


* License: Current, valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license from the Respiratory Care Board, California State Department of Consumer Affairs


* Certificate: Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care


* Experience: Two years in an acute care environment, including some lead experience


* Certifications: Current certifications in BLS and ACLS

Desired Qualifications:


* Experience: 5-7 years in respiratory care, including patient education, staff training, and program development


* Technical Skills: Proficiency with EPIC for respiratory care documentation; experience with Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word


* Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Respiratory Therapy


* Certifications: Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE); current certifications in PALS, and NRP


* Professional Development: Knowledge of ongoing education and the latest advancements in respiratory care

Schedule:
9/80 Friday - Day Shift
Must have the flexibility to work days and/or nights as needed for staff education.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Perform the full range of respiratory care services as prescribed by a physician; perform basic respiratory patient assessments; monitor patients undergoing respiratory care.
• Provide and monitor mechanical ventilatory support.
• Report changes in patient condition to medical or nursing personnel; make recommendations to physicians and nursing personnel when changes are indicated.
• Perform CPR; perform arterial punctures and blood gas analysis.
• Record information in the patient's medical record; provide patient/family education and instruction in respiratory care, as needed.
• Provide instruction in respiratory techniques to other personnel, as needed.
• Perform daily blood gas laboratory quality control and maintenance procedures; required to make shift workload and duty assignments; ensure emergency equipment is available; monitor and report on quality assurance programs and issues.
