Job Summary

Electrical Engineering Intern

The CITGO Lemont Refinery is searching for an Electrical Engineer intern who will be become familiar with the refinery organization and work processes while learning refinery safe work practices.

The intern will work on various projects throughout the refinery under the direction of a more senior engineer.

This position is a paid 12-week summer internship.

A presentation covering all aspects of the internship experience and accomplishments will be expected at the end of the term.

Assist in the performance of Project Engineering activities which may vary from simple to moderate in various areas as they relate to Electrical Engineering.

Work will include observation of lockout tagout energy isolation supervised observation of and participation in zero energy verification, complete electrical engineering documentation review including review of One Line Diagrams, arc flash studies, P and IDs, motor control schematics, etc.

and provide mark-up, work to create job scopes for ongoing projects, and assist with the update and creation of CITGO specifications as they relate to electrical engineering.

Minimum Qualifications



* Must be enrolled in a Electrical Engineering Bachelor Degree program


* Must be at least a sophomore status in college (completion of freshman year) with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above


* Available to work forty hours (40) per week


* Must have current valid driver's license


* Candidate must possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment


* Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility

Job Duties

Interns will be responsible for providing assistance with various engineering duties which may include: providing technical support for various refinery units, basic engineering research and support for electrical projects, updating engineering records and perform routine engineering calculations.

Site visits may include witnessing of site activities and scoping and verification for projects.
