The County of Riverside's Auditor-Controller Office seeks a qualified Principal Accountant who will oversee the Cash Management and Budget Section of the General Accounting Division located in Riverside.

The Principal Accountant will oversee a team of professional accountants in the Cash Management & Budget Team in the General Accounting Division and will be responsible leading, training, and developing their assigned reports.

The incumbent will oversee the reporting team overseeing certain notes related to the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACAFR), working with the external and internal auditors, overseeing journals, budget related transactions, handling of daily cash and general ledger accounts, stale dated, opening, and closing periods, reviewing form 11's, reviewing certain year-end schedules.

Additionally, they will interpret Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pertaining to accounting and financial reporting questions.

As well as provide guidance and training pertaining to new county policies, governmental financial rules, and regulations to professional level accounting staff.

Competitive candidates will have strong organizational and analytical skills; can multi-task between assignments with tight and competing deadlines; strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, V-lookups, etc.), Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Power BI; Proficient in PeopleSoft Financial Accounting System and cash and investment transactions; Knowledge of not preparation and updating for the analysis of sections related to the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR); Professional accounting experience working with external and internal auditors.

Those with professional extensive professional level accounting experience within a government agency are highly desired.

This class has been deemed eligible for the Performance Recognition Plan as set forth under Article 3, Section 311(C) of the County Management Resolution.
