Junior Electronics Engineer

The Algorithms, Modeling & Assessments division of ARA is looking for a Junior Electronics Engineer to join the Electromagnetic Testing & Technology Development Center in San Antonio, TX.

In this role as a problem solver, you will help us perform laboratory and field testing as well as develop new electromagnetic technologies.

In addition to your technical role, you will assist with purchasing, property inventory, shipping and receiving, and facility maintenance.

You will be working as part of an engineering team to conduct experiments using high voltage and RF test equipment.

This includes using a variety of electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.

This equipment will be used to make scientific measurements and evaluate the functionality of other devices.

You will help to build circuits, design and construct test apparatuses, perform testing, and report on results.

This position requires up to 20% travel time to conduct testing at remote sites using specialized equipment.

You will be contributing to test planning, preparation, execution, and reporting.

This includes handling testing logistics such as booking equipment rentals, creating packing lists, and keeping an inventory of equipment.

Hand tools and power tools will be used to construct test fixtures and assemble hardware.

Requirements


* Bachelor’s degree with 0-2 years of related experience.

Without a degree, candidate must have 6-8 years of related experience.


* Be able to safely use hand tools and basic power tools.


* Be able to lift 50 lb.


* Be familiar with basic electronics principles.


* Be able to accurately and neatly document work in a laboratory notebook.


* Effectively communicate and work with the team.


* Work in a Research and Development and Testing environment mostly without written work instructions or procedures.


* Must be a United States citizen and have, or be capable to obtain, a Secret or higher Department of Defense Security Clearance.
