Derivative Accountant

Derivative Accountant

The Derivative Accountant position is an important member of the Land O'Lakes accounting team.

This position is responsible for entering and reconciling the day-to-day trades and works directly with the commodity traders and the business units to analyze and report derivative positions.

This role is located at our Arden Hills, MN corporate headquarters (Hybrid work arrangement each week)

The primary responsibilities include:


* Shares responsibility for the daily and month-end accounting, trading, and derivative wires activity and performs monthly and year-end analysis and reporting of derivative positions.


* Correspond on a daily basis with the commodity traders and counterparties.


* Learn and understand trading strategies and unusual derivatives to set up the trades correctly in our derivatives software.


* Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting of trading positions and realized gains/losses.


* Complete periodic SOX testing and documentation reviews of controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of derivative information.


* Prepare supporting schedules for the interim and year-end audits and serve as a contact for the external auditors.


* Other duties as needed.

Education/Experience


* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance along with a minimum of 1-2 years relevant work experience to include previous internships.


* Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite - Excel required (pivot tables, v-look ups)


* Previous Derivative Accounting or Commodity Trading experience and e xperience with JD Edwards, Eka, and Blackline desired.


* Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills - both written and verbal - with all levels of leadership.


* Must be detail-oriented with financial analysis.
