Legal Support Assistant II

ABOUT THE POSITION

Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Behavioral Health is recruiting for a Legal Support Assistant II who will be assigned to their LPS - Conservatorship division.

The person in this role will be responsible for drafting letters and receipts for DPGs, as well as creating, researching, and monitoring inventory and appraisals, among other duties.

The Legal Support Assistant II will also need to scan and upload incoming documents into PANO, research and develop calendars for Probate and LPS, and deliver and collect documents or checks to and from the court, county counsel, CAC, and DA.

Experience with MS Excel and MS Word is preferred for candidates applying to the LPS - Conservatorship division.

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of specialized and responsible clerical work involving the continual use of legal terminology and procedures; assists in processing and tracking a wide variety of legal documents, records, and correspondence; performs responsible and difficult specialized legal clerical work in support of attorneys and their staff within County offices; performs other related duties as required.

The Legal Support Assistant II is the journey-level classification in the Legal Support Assistant series and provides clerical support to attorneys and other County staff within the Office of the District Attorney, Department of Child Support Services, Public Defender, Riverside University Health System-Behavioral Health, or Department of Public Social Services.

The Legal Support Assistant II is distinguished from the Legal Support Assistant I by the former's ability to understand and apply a more extensive and complex range of legal procedures, including the preparation, completion, and tracking of legal documents required by the attorneys' case-building process.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Serve as secretarial and clerical support to attorneys and other County staff; schedule appointments, screen callers and initiate reply to routine correspondence.

• Provide the more responsible and authoritative information to law enforcement officers, attorneys, officers of the court, other staff, agencies, or the general public; train lower-level staff; interpret legal, procedural or department requisites from the record to the public, law enforcement agencies and/or attorneys; contact by phone, automated system or in person, judges, attorneys, court clerks, witnesses, medical representatives, and other County departments or government agencies in order to obtain or confirm information for case files, or to arrange medical appointments, depositions or hearings; prepare case files and maintain case status records including the posting of court actions and court dates to calendars.
