IT Systems Administrator III
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside County Fire Department seeks an experienced IT Systems Administrator III to design and implement data computing hardware and software platforms in a public safety environment.
The incumbent will design, install, configure, and maintain computer systems, servers, networking, and security equipment; develop software images for field deployment; and create repair procedures and documentation.
They will also manage the department's wide area network (WAN) and MPLS infrastructure, support routers, switches, firewalls, storage area networks, and enterprise storage platforms.
The role involves working with state and local agencies to design and implement secure, interoperable networks and systems, as well as developing and maintaining system backup/restore procedures, disaster recovery processes, performance tuning, writing technical documentation, recommending hardware/software solutions, and implementing large-scale datacenter solutions.
Competitive candidates must exercise a high degree of independent judgment and provide project oversight to subordinate staff while leading projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience performing the full scope of IT system administrator duties.
The following experience is highly desired: Fire or public safety experience, working with mobile data computers, using private APNs and private radio data systems, utilizing remote deployment tools and scripting to manage systems, and managing and supporting enterprise-grade routers, switches, firewalls, storage area networks, enterprise storage platforms, SD-WAN infrastructure, hypervisor platforms, server operating systems, and mobile device management solutions.
This position requires standby duty shifts on a rotational basis for after-hours support, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Telecommuting is not an option; this role requires in-office work.

• Plan and implement hardware installation and upgrades; maintain physical technical infrastructure, directories, and system documentation; plan and implement operating system and application upgrades.
