Desk Support Technician

The Desktop Support Technician will be the first line of defense in our IT support team, ensuring that our Windows-based desktop environment runs smoothly and efficiently.

You will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, provide excellent customer service, and support our internal users with their day-to-day IT needs.

Additionally, you will assist with system operations functions, including monthly server patching, and have the opportunity to expand your skills in this area.

This position will support both Dynisco and Alpha Technologies companies.

This role is based in the Alpha Technologies location in Hudson Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:


* Desktop Support:



* Provide on-site and remote support for Windows-based desktops and laptops.


* Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly and effectively.


* Install, configure, and update operating systems, applications, and drivers.


* Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords in Active Directory.


* Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up new workstations and decommissioning old ones.

SysOp Functions (i.e., Network & Server):


* Assist with monthly server patching and updates.


* Support basic server maintenance tasks under the guidance of senior sysadmins.


* Minimize downtime of network and ensure a seamless network environment for employees.

Customer Service:


* Provide outstanding customer service and technical support to internal users.


* Document issues and resolutions in the IT ticketing system.


* Communicate effectively with users to understand their needs and provide timely solutions.

Collaboration and Growth:


* Collaborate with the IT team to identify and implement improvements to the IT environment.


* Participate in training and professional development to enhance your technical skills.


* Demonstrate a willingness to take on additional responsibilities and grow within the sysadmin role.

Qualifications:


* Education and Experience:



* Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.


* 1-3 years of experience in desktop support or a related IT role.


* Familiarity with Windows operating systems, including Windows 11 and Windows Server.



* Technical Skills:



* Proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.


* Experience with Active Directory, MS Office Suite, and common business applications.


* Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).



* Soft Skills:



* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
