Senior Eeo Investigator - Bureau Of Human Resources

Job Summary
Investigate and respond to complex employee complaints regarding acts of discrimination and harassment (including sexual harassment) that violate County policies.

Analyze collected data and prepare written reports evaluating all evidence relevant to complaints.

Conduct employee training regarding relevant policies at various locations.

Train other employees and staff as needed in employment related processes and procedures.

Respond to inquiries regarding employment policies and procedures, and handle unconventional employment concerns.

Engages in the interactive process for reasonable accommodation requests, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended.

Minimum Qualifications


* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and


* Four (4) years of workplace investigations and preparation of investigative reports regarding equal employment opportunity issues or


* An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.

Candidates who are contacted will be required to produce original required documents (e.g., current driver's license, diploma, school transcript, certifications, etc.) listed on the Notice of Job Opportunity within five (5) days of being extended an offer, in writing, by the Bureau Chief of BHR (or designee).

*Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS



* Knowledge of legal principles and terminology in the area of discrimination law and the ability to apply knowledge to specific situations.


* Skill in eliciting and evaluating information given by those involved in investigation processes.


* Ability to establish and maintain confidentiality and trust; must be able to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential witnesses, documents, and matters in the investigation process.


* Skill in developing training programs and creating training curriculum.

Ability to address mid- to large-sized groups of employees to deliver training programs and respond to audience questions.


* Skill in handling individuals with grievances; must possess the ability to handle difficult and/or tense situations with tact and diplomacy.


* Ability to transport self/travel to different sites within Cook County in order to interview employees for investigatory purposes, conduct site visits, and conduct training programs.
