Temporary Maintenance Painter - Probation, Indio Juvenile Hall

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside Probation Department has an opportunity for a Temporary Maintenance Painter in Riverside.

The Maintenance Painter will play a crucial role in ensuring that our County properties are well-maintained, visually appealing, and in excellent condition by preparing and painting both interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, equipment, and furniture.

Additionally, they will be responsible for light maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, patching walls, repairing drywall, and conducting minor touch-ups as needed, as well as escorting vendors and maintaining the painting supplies in the facility, and doing other work as required.

The most competitive candidates will have extensive experience in repairing and painting interior and exterior surfaces in a variety of large commercial and/or institutional buildings.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Paints and redecorates interior and exterior walls, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures; Rigs scaffolding, prepares surfaces for painting, and fills cracks and holes.

• Mixes, blends, and matches paints utilizing computerized paint matching equipment; uses brushes, rollers, and spray equipment; does finished work using stains and varnishes; Cleans and maintains equipment.

• Removes graffiti from County property utilizing water or sandblasting equipment, or by repainting the affected area.

• Estimates and orders materials and supplies.

• May do simple lettering and sign painting; May supervise the work of trustees or wards assigned to perform painting-related tasks; May prepare and submit documented incident reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Tools, materials, and methods of painting trade; safety practices, including the use of scaffolds.

Ability to: Read and write English at the level necessary for successful job performance; use skillfully the tools and equipment of the painting trade; mix paints and match colors; estimate materials needed; understand and follow oral and written directions.

Experience: Four years of experience in preparing and painting interior and exterior surfaces, equipment, or furniture in a variety of large commercial and/or institutional buildings.
