Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the East Granby, CT facility where we produce fiber and fiber-based components for industrial, telecommunications, scientific, medical, sensor and defense markets.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


* Develop and implement improvements to manufacturing processes to maximize productivity and efficiency while ensuring day-to-day manufacturing flow


* Support employee involvement in a continuous improvement and LEAN culture while maintaining compliance to manufacturing policies, controls, workmanship standards, and procedures - Implement these improved processes, methods, and workflow optimization to realize cost savings


* Organizes material flow to assure production of customer deliveries are maintained, while minimizing work-in-process


* Coordinate and qualify Engineering Changes to assure minimum delays or interruptions to production


* Interact with engineering and supply chain to manage supplier requirements and schedules to maintain delivery commitments


* Monitor process yields, pareto root cause and implement corrective actions in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing


* Meet safety, workmanship, cost, and customer delivery expectations with emphasis on quality standards


* Ensure a safe work environment and cultivate safe behaviors


* Participate in IQ, OQ, and PQ activities


* Improve and write SOP/ Work instructions

Education & Experience


* Bachelors degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering degree


* 2+ years of hands-on experience in a high-tech continuous improvement-oriented manufacturing environment or experience in high-volume production environment


* Fiber optic experience strongly preferred

Skills


* Knowledge of 5S and Lean practices, Green belt or other Six-Sigma LEAN certification desired.


* Demonstrated experience developing process documentation and establishing process capability using SPC


* Experience with Oracle, Agile and ISO 13485 desired.


* Ability to analyze manufacturing cost structures utilizing BOMs and routings into a computerized ERP system


* Mastery of the MS Office Suite including using Excel for data analysis and charting and eperience using PowerPoint.

Knowledge of JMP, Minitab or other statistical analysis software


* Strong degree of self-motivation and direction required using discretion and judgment on a regular basis


* Strong oral and written communication skills, along with comfortable presenting in front of groups of people


* Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions


* The position requires on-site work, in the manufacturing facility.

It is a state-of-the-art plant, with certain areas in a cleanroom environment.

Physical Requirements


* Ability to dress in cleanroom garment.


* Ability to move up to 10 pound pieces of glass and/or equipment.
