Deputy Administrator - Outreach Services Coordinator (Library System)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Deputy Administrator/Outreach Services Coordinator assists the System Administrator in supporting the mission and goals of the Library Department (known as Berks County Public Libraries System).

This position oversees delivery operations to over 25 library locations.

The Deputy Administrator/Outreach Services Coordinator also coordinates system-wide initiatives, community events, and staff development days.

This individual assists the Library System Administrator with department tasks and management of staff.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:


* Support the Library System Administrator with data collection, budget tracking, reporting, funding formulas, and strategic planning activities


* Responds to requests for readers’ advisory, reference and professional development from outreach clients.

Responds to customer concerns and complaints and conducts conflict resolution between patrons and libraries


* Oversee delivery operations to 26 library and partner locations; this includes scheduling drivers’ delivery routes, communicate delivery changes to drivers and/or libraries, ordering delivery cart supplies, and making schedule adjustments due to weather or vehicle maintenance 


* Manage a team of delivery drivers and community engagement specialists; hire and train new employees, monitor employee productivity, provide performance feedback, and schedule work hours and shifts


* Review policies and procedures with Library System Administrator


* Provide and oversee outreach services throughout Berks County 


* Develop and implement partnerships with community agencies and organizations to achieve library system goals


* Develop, implement and evaluate library services to meet the needs and interests of the local community and reach underserved populations

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


* High school diploma or G.E.D.

certification from a recognized issuing agency


* Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library Information Science 


* Professional Librarian Certification by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania


* Minimum of three years’ experience as a Library Director, Assistant Library Director, or another library-based leadership role


* Supervisory experience required


* Valid state-issued driver’s license  


* Skilled in evaluating and selecting library materials, operating library software including integrated library systems, and other computer applications


* State and Federal child abuse clearances.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


* Public librarianship knowledge


* Ability to fulfill the State Statute education requirement of the System Administrator position when necessary
