Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am - 4:30pm; some evenings, some weekends, Modified School Schedule

JOB SUMMARY:

The Excel Center is the first Free in-seat High School for adult learners 22 years of age and older in Colorado who have not earned a high school diploma.

Under the direction of the school director, the Special Education Instructor Coordinator will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in accordance with a student’s past Individual Education Program (IEP) and current 504 status (for those who may have aged out of the system).

This position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aides, accommodations, and other needed supports.

The position will work with the instructional team in meeting the educational objectives and adhering to the Colorado State Standards.

This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position at our school located in Aurora, Colorado.  Applicants must reside in Colorado and work from the Aurora facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide coordination for special education services and coordination of referrals to outside resources.

• Accommodate the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based on various instructional techniques and technologies.

• Maintain accurate and compliant student records and prepare documentation as required by law.

• Hold case conference committee meetings to assist in developing measurable goals, benchmarks, and objectives to meet students' needs.

• Regularly monitor the implementation of the student’s accommodations and provide progress reports to the student and/or family.

• Develop compliant and comprehensive transition plans.

• Communicate student's accommodations to general education staff.

• Ensure any needed accommodations and modifications on district, statewide, and national assessments are implemented according to the student’s progress.
