Electrical Design Technician

If you are an electrical technician professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting role for you!  Based in our Shakopee, MN location, you will work directly within the R&D department to perform sustaining engineering and product improvement activities as well as contributing towards the development of our next generation of sensor products.  This is a unique engineering role that requires working multi-functionally with all aspects of product sustaining and development engineering, product test, manufacturing engineering and supply chain. 

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:


* Directly support sustaining electrical engineering activities within multi-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and test engineering groups.


* Develop in-depth experience in areas of technology relevant to Emerson’s Analytical Instruments products.


* Apply electrical design and development tools used in collecting circuit design schematics, laying out printed circuit boards, and performing circuit simulations.


* Provide sustaining support for designs that include analog circuits that collaborate with sensors, AC/DC power supplies, and communication circuits (e.g. Modbus, 4/20mA HART, Fieldbus)


* Perform electronics Design Verification Testing (DVT) activities and provide evidence to peers that designs meet or exceed specification requirements and customers’ needs.


* Perform statistical analysis of laboratory test results and report findings to engineering peers.


* Address Emerson systems and electronic circuits to a functional block or component level.


* Periodically support global electronics circuit card manufacturing and global product manufacturing by improving product designs, streamlining manufacturing processes, reducing manufacturing costs, and improving quality.

For This Role, You Will Need:


* 2-year technical degree OR 1800 hours of technical education or equivalent


* Minimum of three (3) years of related experience


* Competence with standard engineering laboratory equipment, tools, and instruments


* Legal authorization to work in the United States 
 

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:


* Six (6) or more years of related experience


* Experience in microcontroller-based instrumentation design and analog design of industrial measurement equipment


* Familiarity with ECAD software and LabView


* Knowledge of soldering and associated techniques
