Scholarship Advisor

The Scholarship Advisor manages all aspects of the Call to Action (CTA) Scholarship Program including mentoring the scholarship students (approximately 100) and acting as a liaison between the Call to Action Foundation, the CTA Scholarship Selection Committee and all institutions.

The position is responsible for fostering student success via regular check-ins and identifying and coordinating resources and appropriate services required to relieve potential barriers to success during the students’ educational journey.

Areas of knowledge should include financial aid and scholarships, project management, student mentoring and advisement, and event planning.

 Specifically, the CTA Scholarship Advisor’s responsibilities will include:


* Provides career, academic guidance and advisement.


* Act as a mentor for students, providing support through positive communication and problem resolution.


* Maintain working knowledge of regional campus-based resources and contacts, such as career planning, major selection, mental and physical health resources, etc.


* Assist students with identification of long-term goals and career plans, including internships or career opportunities.


* Assist students so they meet established CTA scholarship criteria.


* Provide qualitative and quantitative documentation of all outreach to students; track compliance with CTA scholarship criteria.


* Assist students to meet general academic requirements for graduation and job placement within appropriate periods of time while preparing them to meet future goals.


* Manage annual calendar of important dates and deadlines for potential and current scholarship recipients including FAFSA deadlines and scholarship applications.


* Maintain a working knowledge of university financial aid policies and federal regulations.


* Connect with scholarship recipients 1-2 times per semester personally or online.


* Organize and implement annual CTA scholarship events.


* Provide quarterly reports to the CTA Executive Director and annual reports to CTA Board on progress of scholarship recipients.


* Serve as the liaison between CTA and development offices and scholarship offices at each institution including technical colleges.


* Manage the path of transfer students from 2-year institutions to 4-year institutions.


* Serve as a liaison with the CTA Scholarship Selection Committee including preparing all meeting materials, reports, etc.


* Manage and execute all correspondence with scholarship recipients.


* Manage annual invoicing process with institutions and FJM accounting department with supervision from CTA Executive Director.


* Manage phone calls and incoming email related to the CTA Scholarship Program.


* Other responsibilities as needed and assigned.
