CAD Design Engineer - Plastics
The Design Engineer, working in the Plastics Product Development group is responsible for completing the design and development of injection molded plastic component designs from start to finish under the direction of Lead and Sr.
Design Engineers.
Working with both internal and external customers, the design engineer will conduct all upfront development such as design studies, engineering research, creation of master section documentation, CAD design development, manufacturing feasibility and 2D drawing creation as well as support prototype and trial builds, validation, launch and on-going production support.
This role requires working in an office environment (not hybrid or remote) at ConMet's corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.

Key Duties
* Sketch, concept, detail design, develop and engineer high quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
* Produce designs and CAD models that meet targets for feasibility, performance, costs, quality, safety, legislation and timing.
* Understand and strictly follows the CAD workflow process under the supervision of the Lead/Sr.
Design engineer.
(Master section development, Packaging, Feasibility through detail CAD models/drawings)
* Ensure all work carried out is in compliance with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and procedural standards under the guidance of Lead/Senior Design Engineers.
* Actively participates and provide CAD support in design reviews, DFMEA sessions, material review meetings, DFA/DFM meetings, troubleshooting reviews and issue resolution to design/assembly problems when deemed necessary.
* Produce and maintain Design Master Section documentation to required standards under the direction of Lead/Senior Design Engineers
* Support Lead/Senior Design Engineers, and client, as necessary to obtain critical design information necessary to complete CAD projects within intended time frame.
* Support Program Engineers/ Lead Design Engineers to facilitate design activity document completion and release (i.e.
CAD, Drawings, ECNs, specifications)
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
* Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a related design field (transportation)
* Knowledge of plastics design guidelines and manufacturing processes required
Required Qualifications:
* Ability to create/revise CAD models in respective CAD system to produce high quality plastic component designs and concepts.
* Use of “Design of Experiments” methods in problem solving and process development.
* Competency in at least 1 of the following CAD systems; Catia V5, NX, Creo
* Working knowledge of GD&T and 2D print creation to ASME Y14.5 standards
