Position Overview University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men seeks a qualified Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), and in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Article 89 of New York State Education Law, and applicable regulations of the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

The teacher will ensure that all mandated services, accommodations, and modifications are implemented with fidelity and that student progress toward annual goals is monitored and reported as required.

Key Responsibilities Provide specially designed instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and each student's IEP Implement IEP mandates, including accommodations, modifications, annual goals, and related service coordination Ensure compliance with all federal and state special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and NYSED Part 200 regulations Deliver services across the continuum of special education settings (e.g., Integrated Co-Teaching [ICT], resource room, consultant teacher services), as assigned Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to grade-level curriculum in the least restrictive environment (LRE) Develop, maintain, and update IEP documentation in accordance with compliance timelines and procedural requirements Monitor student progress toward IEP goals using data-driven methods and maintain accurate records Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and contribute to IEP development and review Administer and implement testing accommodations in accordance with IEPs and state assessment guidelines Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports positive student behavior Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and program implementation Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and support staff Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership Qualific...
