Special Education Teacher

Job Duties and Responsibilities Develops and implements comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with student needs and educational goals.Applies Differentiated Instruction strategies, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the unique learning styles and abilities of each student.Implements effective Behavior Management techniques, fostering a positive and productive classroom environment and promoting self-regulation.Conducts thorough Student Assessment, monitors progress and uses data to inform instructional decisions and report on student outcomes.Engages in active Collaboration with general education teachers, parents, support staff, and administrators to ensure integrated student support.Designs engaging and accessible Lesson Plans that address IEP goals and state academic standards.Performs Curriculum Adaptation, modifying general education curriculum to make content accessible and relevant for students with disabilities.Utilizes Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) principles to create a proactive and supportive school culture.Communicates regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress and development.Maintains accurate and confidential student records in compliance with all regulations.

Required Qualifications Education Holds a master's degree in special education.Possesses specific endorsements or certifications in areas such as autism, learning disabilities, or emotional disturbance.Has experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning toolsPossesses a valid NYS teaching certification in Special Education.

Experience Demonstrates experience working with students across a range of disabilities.Has proven experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Knowledge/Skills Possesses a deep understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.Applies expertise in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) development, implementation, and review.Utilizes a variety of Differentiated Instruction strategies to support diverse learners.Employs effective Behavior Management techniques, including proactive and responsive interventions.Conducts and interprets various forms of Student Assessment to measure progress and guide instruction.Exhibits strong Collaboration and communication skills with all stakeholders.Masters Lesson Planning that is engaging, accessible, and aligned with student nee...
