Intern - Components & Systems

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join the Components and Systems team for Summer 2026.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in component testing, detailed assembly processes, and design reviews while working alongside industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities



* Assist with data collection and analysis.

Implement SPC on existing processes and develop department BI reports to display data.



* Assist PE with conducting work instruction reviews and implementation of process improvements.



* Identify potential AI based solutions for improved efficiency within the department.



* Other general QA testing and characterization of optical assemblies



* Laser testing of production parts.



* Recording testing results into database.



* Assist in 5S program.



* Work with Oracle.



* Assist in department transfer activities to offshore facilities.

Education & Experience



* Education: Enrolled in a 4-year engineering program.



* Experience: Completion of 1 year towards bachelor's degree.



* Majors: Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or similar)



* Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in Office 365 and Python is a plus.



* Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

* Attention to detail and time management.


* Internship Duration: 10 - 14 weeks.

Working Conditions



* This role will be based on-site in Saxonburg Pennsylvania.



* Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.



* Production floor and lab work as required.



* Some areas involve the handling of finished products requiring strong attention to details.

Physical Requirements



* Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.



* Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.



* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
