Accounting Manager
General Purpose
The Accounting Manager supervises staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including accounting, financial reporting, preparation of internal and external audit deliverables and the support of business unit activities.
The Accounting Manager will have contact with senior and facility management which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Maintains and reconciles ledgers and accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles.
Prepares and analyzes financial information, prepares reports and financial statements based upon derived statistics and analysis performed.
Essential Duties
* Provide accounting management and oversight to accounting team to ensure financial reporting is complete and accurate.
* Responsible for training and development of direct reports.
* Ensure deadlines for month-end close and financial reporting requirements are met and all accounting and reporting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP.
* Prepare and assesses revenue, expense, and payroll journal entries, and other accounting documents.
* Reconcile balance sheets, cash, general ledger, payroll accounts and supporting journal entries.
* Generate and review operating statements, compare actual results to historical trends and investigate and explain variances
* Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
* Assist in documentation of internal control, process, and related procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, plus five years or more related experience or equivalency required.
* Public accounting (audit) experience or experience at a public company's accounting department preferred.
* Progressive accounting experience from staff level through management.
* Experience leading teams of 3+ employees
* A thorough understanding of general ledger accounting practices, cost analysis and accounting principles, as well as demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relations and effective communication skills also required.
* Able to understand systematic processes and have a strong aptitude to understand accounting systems and how to extract and reconcile information.
* CPA candidate or CPA preferred.
Compensation: $110,000-$125,000 annually, depending on experience.

* This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
