About the Role

We’re looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to join our team at Portland Aluminium in Victoria.

In this role, you’ll provide technical advice and problem-solving expertise to support the operation and maintenance of refinery or smelter equipment.

Your focus will be on improving equipment reliability and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities



* Develop and review equipment management strategies for critical electrical assets.


* Monitor equipment health and ensure compliance with standards.


* Investigate root causes of major equipment failures and implement corrective actions.


* Provide technical support for troubleshooting and day-to-day operations.


* Identify long-term reliability improvement opportunities and assist in business case development for capital projects.


* Ensure best practice technology is applied and transferred across the operation.


* Contribute to environmental health and safety compliance through audits and inspections.

What you can bring to the role



* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.


* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering principles in an industrial setting.


* Experience in equipment reliability and maintenance strategies.


* Ability to build positive relationships across teams and external stakeholders.

About the Location

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%).

Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s total aluminium production in Portland.
