Trainer
Overview
Stewart & Stevenson is searching for a Trainer.
Position Summary
Responsible for conducting training sessions and providing instruction to internal and external customers in order to increase employee and customer competency levels regarding on-highway, off-highway, and marine diesel engines, transmissions, and related equipment.
Responsibilities
* Conduct training needs analysis to determine specific training needs.
* Identify and source training programs/materials from vendors in order to provide in-house training programs.
* Ensure timely delivery of training materials needed for course.
* Develop post training assessment tools and evaluate students post training for overall progress and reactions to presentations and exercises used to present training material.
* Assist with the development and implementation of new and refresher training courses.
* Conduct factory level training on assigned product line(s) for employees and outside customers and distributors.
* Provide instruction to students in a manner that enables the students to acquire the necessary skills as specified by the course objectives.
* Deliver training in a classroom and/or laboratory environment.
* Manage classroom logistics and preparation.
* Perform periodic examinations during the course of instruction to determine if students are achieving the course objectives.
* Maintain class records and employee evaluations.
* Communicate evaluations and test scores to appropriate individuals.

* Ability to effectively present information publicly.

* Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
* Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
* Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
* Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
Education/Experience:
* High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or three to seven years related experience.
* Prior training experience on diesel engine, transmission products and marine equipment preferred.
* Associate’s Degree in Diesel Technology or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and PowerPoint
Certifications & Licenses:
* Volvo Penta Marine Engines & Systems Certification preferred
* Volvo Penta Industrial Engine Certification preferred
* Other OEM Certifications will be considered
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Prior training experience on diesel engine and marine equipment preferred.
