Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of our operational accounting team. They will be primarily responsible for supporting cash management and the development / oversight of the company’s various receivables.
This role will ensure that payments are accurately recorded, unapplied / unidentified cash is resolved promptly, and all receivable balances are properly maintained.
The position requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a creative problem-solving approach, paired with clear communication, and effective collaboration across various operational teams.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
* Apply incoming cash receipts accurately and timely
* Research and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified payments, and payment discrepancies
* Reconcile cash subledger to daily bank activity
* Maintain documentation of cash application processes and adjustments for audit compliance ]
* Work cross-functionally to resolve open issues in a timely manner
* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities including journal entries and receivable reconciliations
* Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis as needed
* Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reporting efforts
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
* Experience in operational accounting close work
* Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Proven ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
* Must have good working knowledge of US GAAP accounting
* Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables
* Working knowledge of General Ledger Systems such as Workday preferred but not required
Experience:
* 1-3+ years accounting experience
* Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
* Insurance experience is a plus
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus
