Assistant Traffic Signal Supervisor
The County of Riverside's Transportation Department is seeking an experienced Assistant Traffic Signal Supervisor (ATSS) to join the Signal Shop Division in Riverside.
The incumbent will play a key leadership role in supporting and directing traffic signal maintenance operations and ensuring compliance with standards and safety protocols.
The ATSS will be responsible for training field personnel, assisting with performance evaluations, and assigning work to traffic signal crews.
Duties include conducting routine maintenance on traffic signals, preparing and submitting periodic reports, maintaining intersection files, and managing maintenance manuals and inventory of all traffic signal equipment and spare parts.
The ATSS will also be responsible for ordering specialized equipment as needed and ensuring the proper maintenance of signal shop vehicles.
In addition, the ATSS will assist with plan check reviews of traffic signal plans prior to construction; inspect and test signal and lighting installations constructed under contract for compliance with project plans and highway lighting standards; and draft as-built plans.
The incumbent will train and instruct field personnel in safe working habits and the proper techniques for repairing and maintaining a wide range of traffic control devices.
Candidates must have direct experience in the maintenance and repair of traffic signal systems and demonstrate the ability to lead and support field crews.
The department desires individuals with at least one year of full supervisory experience, along with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Applicants who have experience using Bluebeam software, hold a crane certification, or possess IMSA certifications (International Municipal Signal Association) are highly encouraged to apply.

• Check, service, repair, and troubleshoot controllers and other components of traffic signal systems for proper operation; check and repair intersection and sign lighting, test and replace traffic signal lamps, and conduct variety of other electrical repairs and installations; check traffic signal controllers to ensure correct timing and operation, make minor adjustments and repairs, or replace controller when necessary; pour and finish concrete bases for traffic signals.
