Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson Heart Recovery (ABIOMED) is currently seeking a Principal Machinist to join the NPI / Advanced Manufacturing team in Danvers, MA.

Key Responsibilities:


* CNC Machining: Operate, program, and set up 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-precision parts and components for various manufacturing projects.


* CAD/CAM Expertise: Use CAD and CAM software to create and optimize tool paths, as well as to program CNC machines for complex geometries and tight tolerances.


* Welding & Equipment Experience: Familiar using various welding techniques, heavy machines, machine shop layout and organization,


* Technical: Comfortable working with electrical, test, mechanical, facility or hydraulic systems, components and equipment.


* Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior machinists, helping to develop their technical skills and knowledge in CNC machining, best practices, and safety protocols.


* Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and fixture design teams to ensure that parts meet design specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Actively participate in troubleshooting, process improvements, and design feedback.


* Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications and drawings using precision measurement tools.

Ensure adherence to the company's quality standards and assist in resolving any quality issues.


* Process Improvement: Continuously assess machining processes for efficiency, effectiveness, and quality, suggesting and implementing improvements as necessary.


* Training & Development: Assist in the training of new machinists, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as promoting a safe and efficient work environment.


* Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine setups, work orders, and tooling changes.

Provide feedback on machining operations and suggest improvements based on lessons learned.

Qualifications:


* Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in CNC machining, with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience operating 5-axis CNC equipment.
