JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs difficult technical work serving as lead in the operation, maintenance and repair of the City's Water Distribution System; responsible for ordering of parts, working with outside vendors, and responding to customer inquiry and complaints; performs preventative maintenance and repairs, participates in the procurement of supplies, monitors expenditures, maintains records, prepares reports, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Field Supervisor.

Provides work direction and general guidance to assigned staff within the division.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Candidate must possess Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade III Water Distribution or equal grade certification from another state and a valid Commercial Driver License Class A with Tanker Endorsement at hire.

ADEQ certification must be obtained through reciprocity at hire.

The selected candidate who does not possess the required certification/CDL will be considered a trainee at the time of hire.

The incumbent works outdoors and is exposed to extreme temperatures.

May require the use of a respirator.

May be subject to call back.

Primary assignment will be in water distribution.

The ideal candidate will be organized, reliable and self-motivated.

Will have the knowledge and experience to perform, direct, train and lead in the maintenance and operation of the city's water system.

Candidate will have a firm understanding of safety protocols and will have the ability to identify issues quickly and take initiative to correct them.

They must have considerable experience working on water distribution systems and display an eagerness to promote safety in the workplace.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED and considerable experience in water or wastewater systems and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of ADEQ Water Distribution III Certification issued by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) at hire.

Possession of a valid Commercial Driver License Class A with a Tanker Endorsement at hire.
