The County of Riverside's Department of Child Support Services is seeking a dedicated Child Support Specialist to join our team in Blythe, CA.

In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for establishing and enforcing child support court order obligations through various forms of communication, including email, mail, telephone, and in-person interviews with both the Person Receiving Support (PRS) and the Person Paying Support (PPS).

The Child Support Specialist will conduct interviews to determine paternity, assess the ability and willingness to pay, arrange for paternity tests, and verify received information.

The incumbent will also establish and enforce paternity, child support, and medical support orders, as well as generate wage assignments, liens, legal documents, and correspondence for involved parties.

We highly value candidates with exceptional customer service skills who have experience in interviewing and gathering information for investigative purposes.

Ideal candidates will be adept at analyzing information, navigating challenging interactions under pressure, and drawing logical conclusions.

Furthermore, successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, colleagues, and representatives from other agencies.

Proficiency in basic data entry and familiarity with commonly used Microsoft applications are also essential.

Services provided included locating, establishing paternity; establishing, modifying and enforcing a court order for child support; and establishing, modifying and enforcing an order for health coverage.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Perform in office interviews for the establishment and enforcement of paternity, child support, and medical support orders.

• Interview complainants and witnesses regarding suspected family/child support law violations; obtain statements, documents, and similar factual material pertinent to the location of non-custodial parent; verify information by mail, telephone, or interviews in the office.

• Interview non-custodial parents to determine paternity, ability to pay, and willingness to pay; effect stipulated support agreements; may take a variety of actions to determine paternity (e.g., arranging blood tests and obtaining statements from witnesses).

• Initiate civil or criminal legal actions to provide payments; monitor cases to determine compliance with payment arrangements and court orders by reviewing payment records through computer data systems, and by evaluating information from complainants; perform mathematical computations on child support cases.
