Advanced Practice Provider Critical Care Part Time - Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware

Nemours is hiring a Part Time APP for our Critical Care Team in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit will work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, consultants, nurses, and other health care providers, dedicating his/her specialized work to patients in the PICU.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Hospital is a 24+ bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, CNS injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation.

Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advance life support technology including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, mechanical ventilation, pharmacologic support of circulation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis as well as hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring and intravascular monitoring.

The PICU care model continues to evolve so there may be ongoing changes to the shift requirements as necessary.

Current state requires the APP to work at least one weekend per month.

Essential Functions:


* Practices collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers to provide high quality health care to children.


* Performs appropriate assessment of patient/family upon referral/admission and appropriately documents history and physical exam data.


* Performs ongoing assessment and evaluation of patient progress and revision of interdisciplinary plan of care.


* May use prescriptive authority if appropriately credentialed to do so.

Collaborates interprofessionally as needed.

Identifies patient/family need for further resources and initiates appropriate referrals.


* Documents patient care and progress on patient's chart.


* Provides patient/family teaching based on identification of learning needs.


* Acts as a patient's advocate.


* Acts as a role model to other members of the Patient Care Services Department to foster professional development.


* Acts as a liaison between families and members of the health care team.


* Promotes standards of care for the specialty area.

Requirements:


* Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure required.


* Active Delaware Advanced Practice Nurse Licensure, with prescriptive authority required; OR Active Delaware Physician Assistant License


* Delaware Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)


* Federal DEA registration with Delaware Address


* Current certification as Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
