Software Engineer

Description & Requirements

As a Software Engineer the incumbent will be (1) maintaining and improving existing IT systems focused on supporting health and research programs (2) Working with stakeholders to determine operational needs (3) Designing new IT solutions/functionalities using existing and emerging technology platforms to improve efficiency and effectiveness as needed.

Systems typically supported from this role use .NET, C#, Angular and integrate with SQL databases.

The candidate must be able to work well independently or as part of a larger team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of software solutions that will meet or exceed business requirements; the development effort includes designing and implementing modules to the system specifications, conducting unit testing, troubleshooting issues and producing detailed proposals to resolve issues.
- Evaluate new coding techniques, tools, modules, and implementation as appropriate.
- Lead and mentor entry and mid-level developers.
- Consult on requirements elicitation and definition.
- Design software solutions per systems requirements.
- Code software solutions per designs.
- Code reviews, unit test, and integrate coded modules.
- Assist other developers in resolving issues by providing guidance and training.
- Support testing and remediate defects.
- Support users through troubleshooting and analysis of production logs and data.
- Investigate new solutions, tools, products, and techniques to incorporate into coding standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- 5-7 years of relevant professional experience required.

Project Specific Required Skills:



* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.


* May have additional training or education in area of specialization


* 4+ years of development experience using .NET technologies


* Experience with mobile application development


* Proficient in coding using C#, SQL, MVC, XML, JavaScript


* Experience with MS Visual Studio


* Experience with HTML/CSS, Angular, TypeScript, and JQuery


* Familiarity with 508 compliances

Desired Skills:


* 8 to 10 year experience conducting and/or supporting IT projects


* Knowledge of Confluence and JIRA


* Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development

Project Additional Requirements as per contract/client:



* Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust - Moderate Risk security clearance


* United States Citizenship


* Locale -Pittsburg, PA or Morgantown, WV


* Employment and continued employment are contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a favorable Government clearance.
