Job Summary

A Shift Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting the overall operation as a multi-skilled Safety Professional.

The supervisor supports the Incident Commander during all emergency events by directing emergency response volunteer teams and contract personnel during an emergency.

Additionally, this position will perform general safety & health functions including safe work permitting, enforcement of CITGO Health and Safety department procedures and incident investigation.

Minimum Qualifications



* Bachelor's degree in related field, plus 2 years of safety or emergency response experience, or


* Associate's degree in related field, plus 4 years of safety or emergency response experience, or


* HS Diploma, plus 6 years of safety or emergency response experience, in lieu of degree


* Supervisory experience preferred,


* Strong verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, and working knowledge of SAP required


* Working knowledge of NIMS/Incident Command Systems


* Valid driver's license


* CITGO hourly employees must be qualified as a temporary supervisor per the Supervisor Development Process (OSDP, MSDP, or LSDP) and meet the minimum qualifications listed above

Job Duties



* Support the Incident Commander and Health & Safety department as an emergency response tactical expert, and Joint Tactical Chief/Section Chief when responding to mutual aid with CITGO resources


* Supervise contract emergency response shift manpower through the contract Shift Captain or Site Supervisor during routine shifts; must be familiar with co-employment rules and policies, medical protocols (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), and other regulations regarding medical responses


* Lead and assist in preparing and instructing CITGO emergency response groups (CITGO Voluntary Emergency Response Team, Rural Metro) in ER equipment operation refresher training and response and tactics training for the LCMC, including Clifton Ridge and Lake Charles Pipeline


* Complete all regulatory emergency response equipment periodic inspections, testing, and status of emergency response equipment.
