Control Technician
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Work in a safe manner that is in compliance with safety, environmental, and Facilities department
policies and procedures.
Support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Responds to Facility Work Orders from building occupants.
Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair: Electric, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic instruments
used to indicate, record, or control operations.
Perform acceptance tests of new equipment.
Industrial fixed, rotating, and electrical equipment such as pumps, piping, valves, motors and fans.
Inspect the installation of equipment and systems for conformance with plans and specifications.
Perform original design work required to implement analog and digital system modifications
Prepare or modify existing operating and maintenance procedures.
Order supplies and prepare maintenance service reports
Use maintain, and repair electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic test instruments.
Inspect, evaluate accuracy, and calibrate / tune if necessary transmitters, controllers and other instrumentation used in process control systems.
Perform specialized work related to control systems
Support complex troubleshooting of facilities equipment and associated failures
Partner with other Technicians and Management in identifying training requirements and safety procedures.
Partner with Engineers and Technicians on various facilities projects
Perform additional duties as assigned and assist other specialty areas as required.
Must be on-call and work off-hours when necessary to maintain efficient operation of facilities.
Consistently works on complex assignments with high degree of independence and initiative to resolve root cause.
Work from technical manuals, specifications, drawings, schematics and verbal instruction.
Perform maintenance duties including maintaining Preventive Maintenance {PM) schedules, PM reports, troubleshooting reports and re-order, maintain and organize equipment spare parts.
Update PM documents as necessary.
Train personnel on equipment maintenance.
Education & Experience
High School or Graduate from a Technical/Associates Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.
A minimum of five (5) years hands on work experience with the maintenance, calibration and repairs of building automation systems.
Must have the ability to troubleshoot systems to the board level and make required repairs up to and including system and panel level programming.
Thorough working knowledge of control systems and plant operations to effectively program and service building automation controls as well as adjust settings from a laptop or a work station.
Skills
Possess the ability to read blueprints and interpret electrical schematics, controls schematics and mechanical drawings.
