Optical Engineer

We are looking for an Optical Engineer to join our team.

This person will be responsible for design and analysis of innovative optical products used in telecom and datacom industries.

This Optical Engineer role will conduct R&D activities for optical liquid crystal devices with the direction from multi-discipline teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites.

This person will have strong experimentation and analytics skills in optical engineering fields, free space optics, fiber optic devices, related electrical engineering and will develop optical devices from design concepts to prototypes.

As an Optical Engineer, the responsibilities will include the design and implementation of optical analysis techniques for liquid crystal devices; this expertise will lead to the advancement of our products and services in the fields of optical communication.

What You Will Do


* Design and develop new optical devices and provide technical support for existing products.


* Participate in the development of optical liquid crystal devices.


* Experimentally characterize optical components and product prototype s.


* Conduct testing of optical devices from the test concept, planning, setup, data collection and analysis.


* Utilize simulation tools and modeling techniques to design and to analyze the optical devices.


* Conduct through analysis of the design for manufacturing.


* Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary design team to integrate optical systems with other hardware, such as electrical and mechanical components.


* Provide technical support for process engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians.


* Work with suppliers and customers.


* C ontinuously improve our capabilities in optical device R&D

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Master's degree in engineering, Physics, Photonics or related technical field


* Experience with optical design in free space and/or micro-optics optical systems


* Experience with optical testing of optical system, optical elements, in free space and/or fiber optic.


* Experience with hardware for optical test and test automation


* Experience with handling, testing and analysis of optical liquid crystal devices

What Will Put You Ahead


* PhD in Physics, Applied Materials, Optics/Photonics or related field


* At least 4 years in optical design/characterization


* Experience/knowledge about micro-fabrication process


* Experience/knowledge with ASIC testing

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $130,000 per year.

This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
