Coordinator 1 - Medical (Coder)

Description & Requirements

Maximus is looking for a Medical Coordinator for our State East program.

The Medical Coordinator is responsible for abstracting data from case files, identifying the medical procedure, and determining the correct coding convention.

This position is 100% remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Abstract and code clinical data.
- Audit medical records to ensure compliance with the organization's coding procedures and standards.
- Accurately enter coded data in a system and validate data entered.
- Research correct coding practices, clearly document and share findings with others.
- Review denials and recommend billing corrections.
- Train staff members on the coding process.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent with 0 - 2 years of experience.

Remote Position Requirements:

Private and Secure workspace from home

Access to Wi-Fi, LAN (wired connection/ethernet) or both at home
Internet provider that offers enough speed for multiple users without latency or lag? (i.e.

housemate also WFH, kids playing video games or streaming shows, etc.)

Internet download speed of 25mbps single/50mbps shared and 5mbps (10 preferred) upload or higher required (you can test this by going to www.speedtest.net)
