Tax Oriented Investments - Renewable Energy Engineer - Associate

Join the Energy Investments team at JPMorgan! The Energy Investment team at JP Morgan has been a leading player in the rapidly growing market for renewable energy tax equity for over 20 years.

The individual will join this very successful team who are dedicated to investing in renewable energy projects.

Our clients include most of the major domestic and international renewable energy companies.

With the advent of the Inflation Reduction Act, the industry will continue to grow, and investment opportunities diversify (e.g.

wind, solar, carbon capture, etc.) The team's investments are integral to JPMorgan Chase's environmental policy, and underscore the firm's commitment to promoting wider use of renewable energy.

The Associate will be part of a dedicated engineering team advising energy investment originators, portfolio/asset managers and senior management on technical and valuation issues on assigned projects; including coordinating with clients/sponsors, outside consultants and law firms in supporting the review, due diligence and documentation of new and existing TOI energy investments.

Job Responsibilities:


* Conduct project-level technical due diligence for new investments from bidding through approval and closing stages


* Identify potential risk areas and key issues for additional review, and possible mitigation approaches


* Collaborate with other functional groups to evaluate issues and identify solutions


* Conduct site visits to inspect assets being considered for financing as well as for existing investments


* Prepare written technical reports and present the results of technical reviews to approval committees.


* Assist asset management personnel in identifying, investigating and resolving equipment and portfolio performance issues

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:


* Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering


* 2+ years of relevant experience with solar, storage or wind power projects and technologies.

Breadth of experience is a plus, as is exposure to other clean energy technologies (carbon capture, hydrogen, geothermal, etc.)


* Strong written and verbal communications skills - to concisely convey technical information to management and to other functional groups


* Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a fast paced team oriented environment


* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:


* Familiarity with project finance and technical due diligence


* Familiarity with transmission and congestion or energy market analyses


* Familiarity with Tableau, ArcGIS, or programming languages (Python, Visual Basic)
