Responsibilities:

Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time heavy equipment shop service diesel technician / mechanic with the classification of Class 2 Mechanic.

This is a union position and will be part of Operating Engineers Local 158 with a compensation of $23.57-$34.05 per hour.

A Class 2 Mechanic is one who is skilled generally in maintenance, repair and rebuilding of several types of equipment or, who are specialists in the maintenance, repair and rebuilding and troubleshooting of one or more types of equipment and major sub-assemblies, but who do not have the high degree of skill or experience of a Class "1" Mechanic and who need from time to time the supervision and guidance of others for the successful performance of their duties.

A Class 2 mechanic must have a full set of tools.

Additional responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:


* Complete inspections


* Implementation of optional accessories


* General repairs


* Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities


* Performs other duties as assigned


* Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time

We encourage our Technicians to participate in our in-house training program, allowing them to acquire additional skills in diagnosis and troubleshooting and further advance their career as a technician.

Qualifications:


* Previous mechanic repair experience (heavy equipment, diesel) including experience in the Military, Guard or Reserve with an MOS or NEC code of 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM


* Excellent mechanical aptitude


* Good written and verbal communication skills


* Good time management skills


* Ability to work after hours as needed


* Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of the following systems: engine, power train, hydraulics and electrical


* Possess own tools


* A positive attitude and high energy


* Computer programs - Microsoft Outlook, Volvo VCADS


* Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
