POSITION SUMMARY

Repair and overhaul new and used paving equipment and/or company owned equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


* Read job order and observe, listen, and diagnose all types of Caterpillar machines.


* Perform general shop repairs on equipment.


* Keep records of service reports and work orders.


* Disassemble unit and inspects parts for wear.


* Repair or replace parts such as pumps, hoses, motors, valves, and bearings.


* Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, emission, and powertrain components and repair.


* Rebuild parts such as screeds, auger, and conveyor systems.


* Repair vibratory systems, generator/heater system, material feed systems, and grade and slope controls.


* Repair and adjust hydraulic systems. 


* Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Safety (SB198), and shop procedures.


* Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS


* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.


* Ability to write service reports.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.


* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


* Ability to fulfill the essential functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.


* Ability to apply to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); four to seven years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Class C driver license and a clean D.M.V.

report.
