The City of Greeley is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I – II to join the Transmission and Distribution division in the Water & Sewer Department.  The Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Project Coordinator and will be responsible for maintaining the proper operation of all equipment and buried assets directly and in-directly associated with valves needed to operate the potable water system,  The successful incumbent will provide daily preventative, predictive, and repair maintenance tasks on a variety of PRV vaults, PRV assemblies, hydraulic valve turning equipment, air vacs, inspection of vaults, inspection of safety equipment, entering confined spaces  They will work with pumps, blowers, compressors, generators, .

The incumbent works in the proximity of electrical switchgears and controls.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements

All levels:


* Valid unrestricted driver’s license.


* High school diploma or equivalent.


* Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.


* Required to participate in a rotating on call schedule, with the ability to respond on-site within 45 minutes.

Mechanic I:


* Six (6) months to 2 years of experience operating a small water system.


* Basic skills using hand and power tools.


* Basic knowledge of construction prints, as-built drawings, and GIS mapping. 


* Basic knowledge of confined space entry safety processes.


* Basic knowledge of small electrical crane operation.


* Current Colorado Water Professional Distribution I certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.

Mechanic II:


* Two (2) to three (3) years of experience operating a small water system.
