Claims Associate - Subrogation

Multi-state commercial insurance carrier is seeking a Claims Associate for a position in their Long Beach, New York office.   The Claims Associate will investigate commercial insurance automobile claims and purse company’s subrogation interests in claims involving multiple commercial product lines through final disposition of claim.    A hybrid work schedule is available.

 

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:



* Analyzing and summarizing damages, presenting subrogation demands, preparing inter-company arbitration contentions and negotiating settlement. 


* Assisting policyholders with customer service issues and assistance with recovery of out of pocket claim expense and losses.


* Investigation of policy coverage and liability with a detailed analysis of applicable state laws; organization of liability supports and documentation of damages.


* Establishing a course of action to conclude claims timely and in compliance with state regulatory requirement.


* Task assignments to outside vendors, with oversight and management of the vendor.


* Communication to policyholders, agents and underwriting departments on subrogation and recovery claim issues is required.


* Participation in open claim reviews and work cohesively with other departments to deliver superior customer service and claim service to policyholders.  

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:



* A solid understanding of the principals of insurance and a familiarity with commercial insurance coverage is required.


* Strong analytical skills are required to analyze information effectively and efficiently.


* The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to express evaluations and resolve claims through a well-planned negotiation strategy.


* Customer service skills and a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment are essential.

Experience:


* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.


* Minimum of 2 years of experience handling subrogation claims including litigation required.


* Computer skills including data entry and a knowledge of word and excel are also strongly recommended.

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 and is commensurate with the candidate’s insurance claims experience and qualifications.
