Job Description:

Responsible for local and overnight travel within the Greater Detroit Area, selling products and services to existing customers and prospective clients.

Maintains existing business and assists sales and/or marketing management to achieve new sales.

Responsible for the creation and solicitation of price quotes.

Executes re-pricing actions for underperforming accounts when necessary.

Typically possesses a Mechanical Engineering degree and 4-8 years of experience in Manufacturing/Technical Sales.

 Experience working with Tier 1 automotive suppliers preferred.

Key Responsibilities 


* Promote and sell the organization's products and services within the Greater Detroit Area to achieve significant sales targets.


* Develop and maintain multi-level relationships within Tier 1 automotive suppliers from purchasing to engineering


* Pursue sales leads; visit existing and new customers of strategic importance; respond to more complex customer inquiries; negotiate prices and delivery times.


* Work directly with customers to develop new products engineered to their performance specifications


* Develop long-term sales plans for key customers and monitor and adapt sales activities to meet these objectives.


* Communicates with existing customers and manages accounts to ensure customer satisfaction.

Maintains existing business by developing and presenting value propositions to existing customers.


* Performing demonstrations of technical products.


* Oversee product installations.


* Collaborate with the sales team, product managers, and technical experts to develop and deliver tailored proposals, presentations, and solution demonstrations that align with customer needs and requirements.


* Interacts with and assists sales managers and/or directors to achieve sales goals.


* Creates detailed price quotes.


* Completes and updates sales-related paperwork and reporting systems.


* Maintains relationships with plants that service customers in the assigned territory, product area, or accounts.


* May solicit requests for quotes.


* May execute re-pricing action for underperforming accounts when necessary.


* May interface with plants to determine lost and new customer opportunities (e.g., customer segment, value propositions).


* Performs other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience 


* Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4-8 years of manufacturing technical sales experience.  

Knowledge and Skills 


* Possesses solid sales experience; technical sales experience required


* Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
