Data Scientist - Fulfillment Analytics

As a Data Scientist in the Fulfillment Analytics team, you will play a key role in improving Best Buy’s supply chain and fulfillment operations through the development of advanced insights and analytic solutions.

The Fulfillment Analytics Team is focused on building advanced analytic solutions to enable a more intelligent world class, data driven supply chain.

You will have the opportunity to work on challenging data and analytic problems that enhance Best Buy’s broad and evolving supply chain.

In doing so you will help Best Buy optimize and run an efficient supply chain that delivers amazing experiences to our customers.

What You'll Do


* Build an understanding of Best Buy’s supply chain operations and relevant processes and systems.


* Source, interpret, and transform operational and transactional data into valuable analytical insights.


* Develop algorithms and models for optimizing the cost – service trade-off in final mile e-commerce fulfillment of Best Buy products.


* Use your knowledge of optimization, statistics, and predictive modeling to identify and test new analytic solutions that create improvements for business operations.


* Work cross functionally with business, data, engineering, product team members to ensure accurate, timely and impactful delivery.


* Craft and deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders, effectively communicating findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.


* Cultivate partnerships with cross-functional departments, seamlessly integrating data and business processes into analytical products that unveil new opportunities and facilitate continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications


* Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college/university preferably in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related STEM field OR equivalent experience


* 2 years of relevant experience in data science and/or a quantitative field


* Working knowledge of various analytic methods (i.e.

data analysis, statistics, operations research and/or machine learning) with application to business problems.


* Hands-on experience using data analytics and optimization tools (i.e.

SQL, Python, R, Gourbi, Vertex AI).


* Hands-on experience working in big data environments and using visualization tools to explore data and present insights.

Preferred Qualifications


* Masters / PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related STEM field.


* 2+ years of experience in the areas of Operations Research and/or Supply Chain Projects (demand planning & forecasting inventory, optimization, network design, segmentation, and S&OP) in sophisticated and complex environments.


* 2+ years of experience of practical utilization and application of computer programming languages such as R, Python, Gourbi or similar.
