Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Boiler Equipment Mechanic to join our Ashland LLC business at our Freetown, Massachusetts location.

This position will report to Facilities, Maintenance and Engineering Manager.

* Work Schedule: 6am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


* Assist on-shift Boiler Operator with repairs, troubleshooting, water regenerations, etc.


* Work with Plant Mechanics performing PM work, pump rebuilds, filter changes, system troubleshooting, etc.


* Backup/Fill-in for on-shift Boiler Operators as needed. 


* Flexibility and willingness to cover nights and/or weekends, as needed, for vacation time, sick time, etc.


* Monitors and operates two water tube, natural gas fired boilers; 725 HP and 1,100 HP.


* Test water, chemical mixing and perform flue gas analysis


* Maintains the plant air systems


* Operates the facility deionized and filtered water systems

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:


* High School diploma or equivalent


* Massachusetts Licensed Second Class Firemen or higher


* Continuous training as prescribed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety for licensing requirements.


* Working knowledge of natural gas fired boilers, pumps, rotating equipment, and compressors.


* Knowledge (and ability to interpret): National Board Boiler rules, ASME and ANSI codes, and Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts rules on boilers


* Ability to work rotating shifts, as needed (6:00 am to 6:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 6:00 am)

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:


* Two or more years’ experience operating and/or repairing boiler equipment, air compressors and various water systems.


* Welding and machine shop skills a plus
