The Utilities Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in boiler operations and maintenance providing support to Georgia-Pacific's network of plywood production facilities.
As part of the Building Products Engineering Team, this individual will provide engineering support to site teams for routine operations as well as supporting capital project execution.
This is a home-based position with preference for an individual seated in Atlanta or within the Southeastern United States.
What You Will Do
* Provide design/technical expertise to support capital investments up to $10 MM in the boiler, thermal fluid, and utility departments.
* Strategy - Assist in creation of capital plans, identify investment cost, identify, and create tools to measure success and check points; Provide point of view on prioritization overall Capital investment plan, return on investment, savings, quality improvement, production output, internal and external resources, execution timing, risk and all other aspects of value creation project(s) may yield.
* Compliance - Lead Environmental compliance projects and ongoing boiler operation improvement projects related to the boilers and auxiliary systems.
Company standards and expectations are followed through project completion.
* Subject Matter Expert - Provide guidance to multiple discipline teams, discuss progress with Senior Leadership, present analytical data validating project priority/status, implement existing/new technology that will enhance processes, quality, and/or product yield; and identify and gain endorsement for scope and deliverable changes necessary to ensure success.
Have a full understanding of NFPA, NEC, NBC and other related governing bodies related to utility systems.
* Oversight - Provide direct support to field teams, manage escalations to resolution, report out on safety successes/failures, regularly report on tracking metrics, reprioritization, and reallocation of resources as appropriate, assist in creating plan adjustments where applicable, consistently apply knowledge acquired across the facilities in the Building Products group.
* Vendor Management - Identification, assessment of services for understanding and alignment of GP's Principle Based Management® approach to doing business, and escalations.
* Leadership - Technical coach to plant teams, influence senior leadership to best business outcomes, increase Principle Based Management® understanding across project teams, leverage Risk Management System in emphasizing safety commitment among project teams.

About the role:
Are you ready to be part of a strong Smelter team as the Mechanical Maintenance Crew Leader? This role is responsible for supervising, advising and coordinating the work of the mechanics assigned to work under their direction.
Warrick Smelter is looking for a professional to provide safe and efficient execution of assigned work as scheduled, supervise crew time, provide problem analysis for equipment history and appropriate response to emergencies.
This may be first or second shift and weekend work will be required.
Key activities:
* Troubleshoot equipment failures on-shift as well as collect data for further analysis by reliability personnel.
* Lead safety pre-job reviews as well as observations of work completed on shift.
* Act to improve the efficiency and quality of the work assigned to their work force and gives timely attention to emergency jobs.
* Submit accurate reports of work execution activities.
* Coordinate company policies as they relate to assigned personnel.
* Maintain close liaison with production, support groups, maintenance planners, engineers and other crew leaders.

* High school diploma/GED required.
* 2 years of experience in heavy industry (aluminum, steel, mining, paper/pulp, etc.) and performing maintenance/troubleshooting on rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes etc.
* Confirmed experience troubleshooting PLCs and hydraulic/pneumatic circuits.
* Experience using a CMMS and applying process data to troubleshoot equipment issues
* Proven understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and material conveying systems.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, codes and standards.
* Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work on other shifts and/or come in early or stay late as needed.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
* Must be able to work second shift, 3-11pm
