Maximus is currently hiring for a Consultant - Nurse to join our State East Appeals team.
This is a remote opportunity.
The Consultant - Nurse is responsible for composing written determinations as the final output in the process of independent third-party review.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for reviewing favorable and partially favorable determinations in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Render determinations for cases assigned.
- Resolve all other technical issues within reconsideration assigned.
- Review cases or sites assigned to determine and summarize facts and assess any issues identified.
- Perform other special projects not related to a specific case such as general legal research, general medical research, drafting proposal sections, or acting as a liaison for a specific project, when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Review cases to identify and summarize key facts of each case and assess issues involved in the appeal.
- Research issues using current peer-reviewed medical literature, clinical guidelines, applicable state laws and regulations, and other sources as defined by the client contract.
- Determine the adequacy of medical records and request relevant medical records as needed.
- Review expert review findings and prepare determination letters.
- Communicate the determination in a succinct written format.
- Exercise independent judgment to ensure determination is accurate, well-supported, and defensible.

Maximus is seeking a dedicated and strategic Reserve Health Readiness Transition Manager to oversee and enhance the transition health readiness initiatives for the Service Component personnel.
This role ensures a seamless handover of operations, personnel, and resources while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and contract requirements.
The director will develop and implement transition plans, manage risk, and coordinate with key stakeholders, including government clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
The Transition Manager will lead all operational, systems, staff and RHRP modalities.
This includes successful data transfer efforts, electronic interfacing process flows, encrypted data efforts, gap analysis, data adaptability, and modular systems integration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure program operations comply with all applicable requirements of the contract, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Ensure established goals and objectives support the overall project strategies.
- Oversee all project administrative operations including budget, financial controls, and human resources.
- Plan, develop, and schedule priorities for achieving operational and performance goals.
- Review management, productivity, and financial reports and studies to ensure program objectives are met.
- Participate in internal audits, research studies, forecasts, and modeling exercises to support project direction and guidance.
- Manage operational managers, including monitoring performance, providing mentoring, and professional development guidance.
- Capture and maintain resource assignments and utilization across the enterprise to proactively assess and align staffing levels.
- Work with internal leadership to facilitate and define priorities including establishing milestones, realistic schedule and securing resources across all strategic initiatives.
- Ensure comprehensive management of defined initiatives that include monitoring of the budget, schedule, resource availability, and organizational alignment.
- Guide and support RFIs, RFPs and RFQs, response development including writing to management approaches, whitepapers, and concept development.
Specific Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, program management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
* Minimum 10 years of experience in government contracting, program management, or transition leadership.
* Proven track record managing large-scale contract transitions within the federal sector.
* Must have experience with the US Military (included: DoD, DHS, or other federal agencies).
Certifications:
* PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
* ITIL, CMMI, or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
