Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Prepare, assemble and install vehicle components to required specifications.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Use and conduct proper care of PPE.
• Read and interpret schematics (blueprints).
• Read and interpret work orders.
• Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment.
• Learn and operator all equipment within the work area (cell).
• Perform rework as required.
• Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives.
May participate in RCI events.
• Willing to move to other work areas in order to support production needs.

• Install unit vehicle components and accessories.
• Remove all loose materials and disassemble non-painted components.
• Tape/mask all cylinders on the aerial unit to avoid painting.
• Weld components as needed.

• Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures and practices.
• Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment.
• Maintain daily time records and document all standard work.
• Rotate responsibilities as needed.
• Willing to be Sentry trained.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• High School Diploma/GED required.

Job Description
Working under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Core Engineering Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, operation, and continuous improvement of the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science (SES) teaching laboratory facilities that support undergraduate core engineering courses.
This role integrates laboratory operations, instructional support, and hands-on teaching to ensure high-quality experiential learning for students. The Core Engineering Laboratory Coordinator works closely with the Director of Undergraduate Studies, course coordinators, and faculty to support laboratory-based instruction and develop and maintain laboratory exercises. The position serves as a key liaison between academic programs, laboratory courses, and administrative offices, ensuring alignment between curriculum needs, facilities, and student learning outcomes.
This position plays a critical role in advancing SES’s commitment to experiential learning, design education, and modernized laboratory instruction.
